A small update.

The bubble came down yesterday. Safely folded. Fences need putting up now. This doesn’t mean courts are ready. .

We have finally received our permit from the City; however, we cannot open until all the City Guidelines are adhered to. And there are several. More to come later as the Board works through the Guidelines. For example, one problem is how to safely provide access to the washrooms. The clubhouse will be closed.

As well, another new problem has developed. Our insurance policy does not cover the pandemic. Should someone catch COVID at Don Mills Tennis Club, they could possibly sue the club. The Board of Directors could all be personally liable. This is a significant issue with significant risk to each of us on the Board. We are, therefore, looking into this matter.

For these reasons, the courts will remain closed until issues are resolved and until we can provide a safe way to play.

We are trying to open as quickly as possible since we understand everyone is anxious to play. But your patience is still required.

Thank you,

Angela Kooij
President, Don Mills Tennis Club
