Hello Don Mills members: We’re excited to announce that finally, we’re allowed to play doubles at Don Mills! Effective immediately, you will be able to book doubles as well as singles play on the online booking system. For doubles, you will be able to book 2 hours back to back. We also made improvements to a rolling week system, so you always get 4 hours booking time every seven days. Despite doubles being allowed, we are still cautioned from crowd gathering due to Covid, so please continue to maintain appropriate distances when coming and leaving your court. Sadly, our popular [...]

Hello Don Mills Tennis Club Members: Club Will Open! I have happy news! We had an insurance win this weekend, which allows us to operate the club now. The insurer had to take back their statement of no coverage and honour their existing policy. So, this means we can open - but we still have to repair a sinkhole on the drive and get the courts resurfaced this week as was planned... we have an opening date, likely July 1st. (If the courts get done before that, then we will set the nets up and open as soon as possible [...]

Hello Don Mills Tennis Club Members: I regret to inform you that the Don Mills Tennis Club Executive Board has decided not to operate the club this year, and to revoke the request for the City's Parks, Forestry and Recreation (PFR) permit under which it normally operates. There are numerous reasons. The main one is the absence of liability insurance coverage as discussed before. Two weeks of work later with officials, both the regular insurer nor the City have budged in indemnifying the club in case of a Covid suit, and even if there are 10 waivers signed by members, [...]

Old: still no insurance coverage; club not opened New: online booking tool for your safety; Courts get re-surfacing Hello DMTC Members: Another update. Thank you for the many people sending info on what other clubs are doing, and for your continued patience with Don Mills Tennis Club – your club. The Board has met and discussed many matters, and has been working hard solving issues that keep coming up. I personally, seem to be spending 3-5 hours per day on club matters, whether on the phone with individual Board members, Zoom meetings or emails, researching with OTA or other club presidents. And [...]

A small update. The bubble came down yesterday. Safely folded. Fences need putting up now. This doesn’t mean courts are ready. . We have finally received our permit from the City; however, we cannot open until all the City Guidelines are adhered to. And there are several. More to come later as the Board works through the Guidelines. For example, one problem is how to safely provide access to the washrooms. The clubhouse will be closed. As well, another new problem has developed. Our insurance policy does not cover the pandemic. Should someone catch COVID at Don Mills Tennis Club, they [...]

Yesterday the Province announced that tennis courts were permitted to open on May 19th - very exciting news for all of us! But you need to read and hear carefully. Unfortunately, the courts will remain closed until the City of Toronto issues a permit in order for us to open, and we are unsure as to when this might occur. And even then, it’s not the case of flicking on a switch to get 2020 operations under way. As such, the DMTC Executive will be receiving direction from the both the City of Toronto and the Ontario Tennis Association in [...]
