NYTA brought the bubble down much earlier than anticipated and last week, volunteers under the leadership of Grounds Director Scott Harrald, made great headway setting up the courts, wind screens and nets so we can have earlier access to play. Dear Friends of Don Mills Tennis Club, We’re looking forward to bringing you a wonderful season of tennis again in 2021! Despite Covid restrictions, we have started planning work to ensure everything is in place so we can have a smooth club opening. We expect that given the current situation, which frustratingly trends positively then negatively, then positively, that we should be able to open and operate as usual. Thank you to all who supported our club this year in such troubled times. Hope you had fun doing the Round Robin, met some new friends, and learnt a bit about yourself and your game! This past Saturday we were treated to some great tennis. Our A Singles champion is Alan Millar, who defeated our defending champ Mishko Maznic. One of our founding club members, Roy Shinobu, will be celebrating his 100th Birthday on Sept. 7th this year. Roy has been a member of our Club for many years and was actively playing in the Kaffeeklatsch right up until he was 98 years of age. His daughter Leslie and son Doug say he misses his tennis buddies so much. Hello Don Mills members: We’re excited to announce that finally, we’re allowed to play doubles at Don Mills! Effective immediately, you will be able to book doubles as well as singles play on the online booking system. For doubles, you will be able to book 2 hours back to back. We also made improvements to a rolling week system, so you always get 4 hours booking time every seven days. Despite doubles being allowed, we are still cautioned from crowd gathering due to Covid, so please continue to maintain appropriate distances when coming and leaving your court. Hello Don Mills members: We’re happy to announce that we have shiny new courts ready for you! Our resurfacing project went extremely well and we’re ahead of schedule. So much so that we’re ready to open on Mon June 29 th instead of the promised July 1 st . Our new online booking tool is ready too.
